چکیده

Abstract We analyze the evolution of undeformed Middle to Late Pleistocene deposits Es Codolar (Southern Eivissa, Western Mediterranean). The outcrop records a succession characterized by alternation aeolian, colluvial and alluvial fan palaeosols that result in complex stratigraphic architecture. In this area, aeolian beds, are exposed along sea-cliffs for almost 500 m, allowing detailed descriptions both general sedimentological geomorphological features deposits. Several different types soft-sediment deformation structures described (load-casts structures, injection water-scape rizoconcretions), which will help us understanding climatic syn- post-depositional processes. way, main processes triggering formation these seem be sea level changes together with wetter environment during warmer episodes.

Assesing Heavy Metals in the Marine Bivalve Pinna Nobilis in the Balearic Islands (western Mediterranean)

Heavy metals (Cd, Cu, Hg, Pb and Zn) concentration were determined in the marine bivalve Pinna nobilis along the Balearic Islands, comparing a protected area with two sites with strong anthropogenic influence. Analyses of Cabrera and Mallorca indicated that heavy metal concentration were generally higher in the most of samples, specially in Santa Maria bay (Cabrera, MPA), and Magaluf (Mallorca,...

Three islands, three worlds: paleogeography and evolution of the vertebrate fauna from the Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands are an archipelago located in the Western Mediterranean Sea. Their isolation from the mainland allowed the establishment of different faunas on each of them. While in Mallorca the Pliocene fauna was composed of the so called Myotragus-fauna (mainly consisting of a bovid, a glirid and a soricid), in Menorca it was constituted by the giant rabbit-fauna (mainly consisting of a...
